Employers prefer to hire students with relevant work experience and research from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) shows internships are the form of experience employers most want to see from students. For some students, internships can be out of reach, particularly if those internships are unpaid. One idea for helping to increase student access to paid internship opportunities is to create an on-campus internship program. University Career Services is currently conducting benchmarking of on-campus internship programs with the goal of piloting a few positions during the 2018-2019 academic year. We want to hear your ideas for what an on-campus internship program could look like at Mason and how we could best support intern supervisors.
